Jean-Charles Ellaume was a famous Parisian furniture maker who’s workshop was situated in the Rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine. He was known for producing exceptionally fine furniture of harmonic proportions. He received the status of master on 6th November 1754 by Royal consent, in recognition of his craftsmanship. Many of his finer pieces are signed, particularly his commodes, of which this represents a particularly fine example.
