A former director and head of Sotheby’s auctioneers carpet department in Europe, Jonathan has dedicated most of his working life to the study and promotion of carpet and textile art.

As a leading authority, he acts as advisor to international collectors, interior designers, private clients and dealers in all aspects of carpet buying, selling, identification, and valuation, as well as supplying rugs and carpets to suit all requirements. As a qualified interior designer he is well placed to offer sound solutions to decoration schemes and projects.

At the forefront of this dynamic aspect of applied works of art, Jonathan lectures extensively on academic and commercial aspects of carpets and the market, both at home and abroad. Recent lecture tours have included Plum Blossoms Forum for the Arts, Singapore, Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, USA, and for the British Council in Mumbai and New Delhi in India.

As an author he regularly contributes and writes for Miller’s art reference publications and, as a consultant to the BBC, he has made appearances in the popular game show, The Great Antiques Hunt.
